Summer is a time that many people live for. A time of rest, no school schedules, no work, and warm days. If you’re anything like me, you try and fit in vacations and fun activities for your kids, but still have to go to work everyday. It’s easy to feel like you’re drowning in the water instead of relaxing on top of it.

It’s so easy to forget (at least for me) to make time to rest in God. Resting in God will renew us and give us peace. So how can we do that when we can barely find time to breathe? Start with finding the best time in your day to spend with God. This could be first thing in the morning, right before bed, or on you commute to work. Look at your day and see what works best to plan your time with God. Next, schedule it and make it a priority to meet regularly (if it’s not a priority, it’s just going to slip to the back burner and not happen). Make it part of your routine. Look for some free bible studies on the Bible App or find a bible study or book to read through.

Create in me a pure heart, O God,
and renew a steadfast spirit within me.
Do not cast me from your presence
or take your Holy Spirit from me.
Restore to me the joy of your salvation
and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.
Psalm 51:10-12

Spending time with God is essential to keeping your head above the water. It won’t change everything that has to be done, but for just a moment, you can be relaxing on a floaty enjoying the sunshine.
